Why Colour is Important

Here at Herga, we recognise that colour needs to be carefully considered when you are designing or introducing a product into your range.

The use of Colour is an important consideration and can be one of the most important things in our lives. The way colours affect us has an impact emotionally and psychologically, often to a degree that we are not even aware of.

The colour will therefore be a powerful part of the product which could immediately be identifiable as part of a company’s branding or as an industry standard, therefore choosing the colour of your product is an important decision.  If the application has safety elements to it, colour blindness restrictions may well be a consideration.

The way that product colours are perceived in a situation, application or industry can have an impact on the way decisions are made.  This is why certain industries lean toward specific colours. In our experience that the Medical industry will utilise light and clean colours such as grey, whereas the Tattoo industry tends to use darker colours such as black, other soothing colours are used for more calming conditions.

Understanding what colours to use and how they impact the user or environment can make a big difference to the success of your products.
