Kate Sandlan 20 Years at Herga

This year, our Sales Manager, Kate Sandlan has been working at Herga for 20 years. We wanted to celebrate her long service to the company by sharing some of her memories.

Kate’s Journey

Kate started working for Herga in 1996 as a Production Operative. One of the reasons Kate has enjoyed working here and what has enabled her to work with us for this length of time is the opportunities she has been given to train and progress whilst working - during her time with us so far she has moved upwards and is now our Sales Manager.

Kate explains her favourite memories of working for Herga “I have been fortunate to visit a few distributors overseas which is something I really enjoy. I spent a week with our French distributors visiting customers North and South which was great. I look forward to the Medica exhibition each year too, It gives me chance to test my rusty language skills as well as meeting up with customers and distributors away from the office environment”

How Herga has changed during Kates Employment

20 years at Herga is a long time and a lot has changed since Kate’s first day.

Herga became part of the Variohm Holdings Group in 2013 and since then lots has changed; from working areas, to structure of staff and much more, Kate explains “Although the number of people has reduced the organisation is far more structured now and we have better facilities in house for design and manufacturing. Medical products have become our focal point and recently we have been accredited ISO 13485:2012 status. We are promoting lean manufacturing throughout the business and are keen to offer a design package not just a manufacturing facility.”

Looking towards the Future

Kate is keen to continue to learn and develop whilst working at Herga. “I would like to think there is still room for further development. I am an ambitious person with drive and like to keep learning and improving my skills. As for Herga, our vision is to grow the business further, increase turnover and profit of course. This can be achieved with new products to complement the existing range as well as drive and commitment from the whole team from sales, distributors, engineering and production.”
