Herga's Electronic Engineer has successfully gained IPC610 A CIT Certification

The development of staff is really important to the success of any business and Herga Technology is not alone.

Recently our new electronics Engineer George Mason, having only been with the company for 3 months has already successfully completed the IPC610A CIT course provided by Advanced Rework Technology Ltd.

The IPC (Institute for Printed Circuits) has many globally recognised standards, providing companies the best overall opportunity to manufacture and maintain high levels of quality in the electronics sector. (www. http://www.ipc.org/)

IPC-A-610, Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies is the most widely used standard published by the IPC. It has an international reputation as the source for end product acceptance criteria for consumer and high reliability printed wiring assemblies.

This certification will demonstrate Herga’s commitment to customer requirements and greatly assists any company dedicated to ISO-9000 or other quality assurance initiatives.

This training and certification has immediate recognition, legitimacy and value throughout the electronics industry. Thousands of individuals have been trained to be IPC-A-610 Certified IPC Trainers. A comprehensive and technically accurate program, IPC-A-610 Training and Certification provides Certified IPC Trainers with high quality materials and detailed instructional plans for training Application Specialists at all levels, including buyers, sales teams and management.

IPC-A-610 Certified Trainer candidates are sent by their parent companies to receive intensive training on the IPC-A-610 from an IPC authorized certification centre. Candidates are certified once they complete their course of study and pass the certification examinations.

Certified IPC Trainers are provided instructional materials for training Application Specialist in a modular training program. Certified IPC Trainers are considered certified for two years after the course completion date. They must then re-certify at an IPC authorised certification site.

In order for Herga to improve its product quality the IPC610 A standard give every member of staff the opportunity to develop their soldering skills and awareness of the critical quality nature of electronics and the impact this has on our customers.

Coming soon will be the new Herga “Soldering School”, specially developed to focus the soldering skills of our staff and again improve the quality of our products released to customers around the world.

George Mason – Electronics Engineer says

The course at ART was very well structured and informative, it covered an in depth review of the IPC 610 standard which I then had to demonstrate an understanding of through an exam. The course then went on to cover how to train others to the same level of proficiency.

Complying with IPC 610 is critical for achieving and maintaining the levels of quality that are now expected of an electronic assembly manufacturer. The standard itself is also a fantastic reference document that offers detailed examples of all the criteria it covers, this makes understanding the applicable criteria much easier.

Overall it was a very enjoyable week and I look forward to conducting the first training session at Herga.

Paul K Edwards – Head of Engineering and Quality says “I’m so pleased we now have the training ability at Herga to improve our already high standards of soldering quality. Herga now has the ability to share the knowledge gained by George in the intensive 4 day course, across the whole business and group. The IPC 610 A is a recognised standard in the electronics manufacturing industry and I very much look forward to George implementing this here and seeing the results.
