Herga at the Suffolk Business Awards 2018

On Thursday 5th July Paul Edwards, Head of Engineering and Quality and Graham Pattison our Group Manging Director attended the Suffolk Business Awards. Herga was one of the 4 finalists for the Innovation Award.

There were around 30 organisations who entered for the Innovation award so we were really happy to have made it to the final four. Last year we entered the Bury St Edmunds business award and were thrilled to win. We want to get ourselves recognised further within the business community so entering the Suffolk business awards has been a good progression for us.

The Innovation Award

The innovation award was sponsored by the University of Suffolk; this award recognises businesses who have demonstrated a transformational impact through innovation. Our focus was on our New Heavy Duty footswitch and our Modular Base System.

Heavy Duty Footswitch – this is our new sturdy and durable footswitch for industrial use. It offers unlimited footswitch expansion and a guarded version is available. It is durable, reliable and has a long working life. Our heavy duty footswitch is aimed at applications including; laser machining, plastics processing, riveting stamping, welding and other areas where hand control switches may not be safe.

Modular Base System – this system has many different options, it combines our standard electrical footswitchs and our puck switches with various add-ons to create a system well suited to different user preferences. This system can accommodate as many as twelve foot operated machine tasks and offers end users, OEMs and machine builders an attractive and ergonomic footswitch solution.

Unfortunately we did not win this year’s Innovation Award but to be recognised for our hard work at a finalist level has been amazing. We did receive a finalist award which was collected by Paul Edwards at the award ceremony.

Graham Pattison says “It was a lovely evening and so great for Herga to be recognised for innovation, we have really worked hard over the past couple of years to produce some really well thought out new products so to be recognised for these at a finalist level was fantastic.”

Paul Edwards also comments on the evening “The venue was amazing, set in the countryside with drinks reception and entertainment. Miles Jupp (Comedian) was also on form as the host and gave the perfect complement to the ceremony.(…even though the Norfolk jokes were a little controversial being Norfolk born myself!)”

What’s Next for Herga?

Finalist Award

We had a great time and we have already decided that we would like to enter the Suffolk Business Awards again next year; we noticed that some of the other categories could suit us also. We are looking forward to entering again. Find out more about the awards by visiting their website

The Bury St Edmunds Awards will take place in October this year and we have entered for four categories, entry closes on the 27thJuly so we are still waiting to see if we have made it to the finals… fingers crossed!

Thanks to all of our staff, customer, suppliers and everyone who has made this possible for us. It really is amazing to have been recognised and make it to the finals.
