Top Three Applications for Our Footswitches

Footswitches are part of the product range we can offer here at Herga.

There are many different types of footswitch; they all have different features to make them suited to different applications in different industries.

We have selected our top three applications for our footswitches. These are the applications which are most common for our footswitches and where our products have been proven time and time again. Are you using footswitches for any of these applications?

1)      Footswitches for Medical beds or couches

You may have come into contact with this application if you have ever stayed in or visited a medical facility such as a hospital. The beds in these facilities usually have many different movable functions which use foot pedals.

Foot pedals are used to control the movement of the actuators fitted to medical beds. This can vary from just 2 functions up to 12 functions.

Each actuator requires an up and down function. The actuators are typically used to raise the bed, tilt the head, lift the feet etc.

Lots of our footswitches are suitable for this application but our most common products provided are the 6241 and 6226 multi pedals both of which are now available as Bluetooth solutions also.

2)      Press to talk (PTT)

Another common application for our footswitches is PTT. This involves using a footswitch to answer the telephone in cases where the user typically needs their hands free for typing whilst speaking on the phone or across loud speakers.

Herga supplies a large number of footswitches in to control rooms for PTT applications for example to air traffic control, emergency services or help desks.

Our most common product for this application is the 6289-01 treadle footswitch which is available as standard electric or USB connection as well as the 6254 model.

3)      Health and Beauty

Within the Health and Beauty industry, footswitches are commonly used for some well-known procedures. Our 6226 footswitches have been selected in the past for both hair removal and varicose vein removal. With its UL 60601 approval for medical use it suits the requirements well.

These footswitches come in various colours so we can match customer house colours. They can also be customised with logo, connectors, guards etc.
