Air operated foot pedals can also be referred to as pneumatic footswitches or foot pedals. They operate using air rather than electricity which makes them safe in wet environments.

What is an air operated Foots Pedal?

An air operated foot pedal is often used in a wet environment. Instead of electricity, the compression of the foot pedal sends a “puff” of air down some PVC tubing to an air switch. The activation of the air switch will operate the device the switch is connected to.

The main reason for using an air operated foot pedal is to keep the electricity away from the user. In a wet environment, this is extremely important for the safety of the user.
