Herga Technology at COMPAMED 2016: ISO 13485:2012 and Bluetooth® Smart

Hall 8a / M31

Herga Technology, the UK designer and manufacturer of footswitches, hand controls and sensing solutions highlights a comprehensive range of medical switching products at Compamed 2016 that reflect its recently awarded ISO 13485:2012 medical device accreditation. Also showcased are single and multi-pedal footswitches that utilise the intelligent and power friendly Bluetooth® Smart closed network.

Herga’s 13485:2012 quality management accreditation follows a major structural transformation since its acquisition in 2013 by Variohm Holdings – the sense measure and control group of companies – which continues to include investment in Herga’s manufacturing systems and facilities as well as provide extensive backing to expand its capability for the design, manufacture and related support services for medical equipment switching. Herga offers a wide range of standard and customised medically approved electrical single and multi-pedal foot and palm switches as well as single and multi-bellow air switches. With customer colours and logos available on request, approvals across the range include all relevant EN, UL, ANSI and CSA standards with protection levels through IPX2 to IPX7 as standard and IPX8 on request.

Herga’s Bluetooth® range is available across a wide selection foot and palm switch models that perfectly suit use in medical applications. These single and multi-pedal devices include the same ergonomic designs as their electrically switched counterparts and with battery powered switch and separate remote receiver modules provide a remote switching solution that is safe and economic as well as based on well proven international Bluetooth standard. Typically with 10 m range and latency of less than 100 milliseconds, the switch and receiver system features ultra-low power consumption and simple pairing. The secure Personal Area Network (PAN) suits up to two transmitting switching devices, each with up to eight switch functions.

Herga has also recently attained ISO 9001:2015 status is and already working towards the augmented ISO 13485:2016 quality standard for medical devices which it hopes to complete in 2017.

In addition to medical and Bluetooth switching devices, Herga also designs and manufactures a comprehensive range of standard and user-customised single- and multi-pedal controls in ergonomic designs for safe switching of industrial, business and domestic machinery.
