An Update on our 3D Printing Product Solutions

Since November 2016 Herga's new 3D Printer from Makerbot has been working round the clock producing samples, tools, jigs and now fixtures.

The reward on investment has been exceeded, the initial apprehension of working with this equipment and its benefits at the beginning has been transformed into a confident one and used almost every day by the engineering team, even running through the night to realise customer samples and fixtures.

Aligning this technology into our currently successful Gate process (shown below) has already given our customers, new business partners and staff the confidence that product development and manufacturing in Herga Technology is taken very seriously and with accelerating ambition.

How has 3D Printing benefited Herga?

Using 3D printing has changed the way we work for the better, Adam Jenkins & Mark Critchell, Product Engineers describe the benefits of 3D printing

Having a 3D printer in the office has been hugely beneficial financially and creatively for the Engineering Department.

The convenience of on-site rapid prototyping has freed the engineers to be more adventurous and creative with design solutions, with concepts now being realised in hours and rapid progress made towards the ideal design solution.

Being able to present a 3D concept which clearly communicates and sells an idea internally and externally has been a major benefit of on-site rapid prototyping, this possibility of personalised prototypes for customers, whether iterations of existing products or entire bespoke design solutions satisfies customers and wins business.

The 3D printing process also enables us to mitigate risk. Verifying designs before investing in hard tooling, and reducing the overheads in prototyping are two huge benefits to the bottom line of the business.

Whether redesigning existing products or creating new possibilities, having an on-site 3D printer is an inexpensive way to expand creativity, reduce time to market and win new customers.

3D Printing and Business Performance.

At Herga we are continuing our journey to improve business performance, constantly questioning advanced manufacturing techniques and methodology    as well as capturing increasing levels of diversification.

We have proven that Herga can effectively develop product, print and test in advance of our competitors and before any significant investment in injection mould tooling, manufacturing fixtures or samples is needed. This allows us to refine those ideas into real turnkey, bespoke and personal product solutions for our growing number of customers and distributors around the world. It gives the customer and our staff the benefit of seeing product ideas coming to life within 24 hours of concept.
