What is a Treadle Footswitch?

The Treadle Footswitch is an extended footswitch, it measures 200 to 3000mm. The Treadle is operated from pressure being applied at any point along the length. This makes it well suited to situations where the user needs to be able to move left or right throughout the course of their daily tasks or if a user cannot see where a single footswitch is placed.

Top Three Applications for the 6289 Treadle Footswitch

1.       “Push to Talk”   - The Treadle Footswitch is used in Radio Controlled rooms and Emergency control rooms.  The operator can remain hands free to be able to perform other duties whilst using the Treadle to switch between calls.  USB options are available, they can emulate keyboard actions. 

2.    “Dead Man’s Handle”   - The Treadle Footswitch can also be used by Train Drivers or Machine operators as a safety feature.  The Treadle footswitch must be activated to keep the electrical system closed which completes the circuit and allows power through to the machine. If the pressure on the Treadle is released, the machine will stop working ensuring safety in the working environment. 

3.  “Multiple Point Operation”   - In a situation where an operator is required to move around a machine and needs to be able to operate it from different positions, the Treadle footswitch can be used. The Treadle has a long length and, therefore, can be reached from multiple points.
